Frequently Asked Questions
At Delmosa we love to discuss our products and business practices. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, please contact our Customer Service team.
What is the difference between non-alcoholic and alcohol free?
In the United States, a non-alcoholic beverage is defined as having 0.5% alcohol by volume or less. 0.5% is about the same percentage of alcohol found in fresh squeezed orange juice or a very ripe banana.
Alcohol free means 0% alcohol.
All Delmosa products meet U.S. government standards for non-alcoholic beverages, and the vast majority of our beverages are alcohol free. A few of our producers use methods that allow for a tiny trace amount of alcohol, and these items are clearly indicated on our website in the individual product descriptions.
Why are some of your products pasteurized and others unpasteurized?
Most fruit and vegetables are exposed to bacteria and wild yeasts during their life cycle. The juice of fresh produce is highly perishable, and will begin to ferment or spoil without intervention.
There are two primary methods used by our producers to create delicious, safe, shelf stable products.
- Pasteurization kills bacteria and yeasts by briefly raising the temperature of the juice to about 160 degrees, followed by rapid cooling.
- Sterile filtration removes harmful elements by passing the juice through a very fine mesh membrane, followed by storage in a sterile environment. The juice is never heated and is considered unpasteurized.
All unpasteurized products are clearly indicated on our website in the individual product descriptions.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Delmosa's beverages are all shelf stable by virtue of sterile filtration or pasteurization, and have an average shelf life of 1 year. However, unlike certain alcoholic beverages our non-alcoholic products do not improve with age. They are bottled at their peak flavor and we suggest enjoying them within 3 months of ordering.
If you are not going to consume our products right away we recommend storing them in a cool, dark place. An opened bottle can be kept in the refrigerator for 3 – 4 days.
What is Still? What is Sparkling?
Beverages listed as still have no carbonation.
Sparkling juices have dissolved CO2, either through injection or natural processes such as low temperature fermentation.
All of our products are clearly labeled still or sparkling in the individual product descriptions.
What do you mean by Nose? Palate? Note?
In our individual product descriptions we use sensory analysis terminology to give our customers an idea of what they can expect in each beverage. While any sensory analysis is unavoidably subjective, as we all have a slightly different set of nostrils and taste buds, the information we provide should be a useful guide in making your selections.
Nose refers to the perception of flavors picked up in aromas. The pleasure associated with Delmosa’s products begins with opening a beverage bottle, pouring yourself a glass, giving it a slight swirl, and breathing in the wonderful bouquet. You will be surprised by what you find.
Then take a sip and discover what your palate tells you. How do the flavors experienced by your taste buds compare to what your nose detected? How does the beverage feel in your mouth? Dry? Full bodied? Round?
Note signifies the presence of a distinct flavor element, one component among many, but clearly identifiable.

Does glassware make a difference?
There is no need to run out and buy any special glasses to enjoy our products. Even wine enthusiasts have a long running debate about whether or not a particular shape and style of glass enhances the experience.
What we will say is that each of our products is wonderfully aromatic, delicious, and colorful. Use a glass that allows you to take it all in.
